    IE8, 2.9demo, fancybox

    Getting issues with IE8 & the 2.9 demo.

    Clicking on an image the rotating gif is showing but after waiting it times out and the IE8 debugger shows:

    Message: Not implemented

    Line: 1
    Char: 1

    I'm also curious why you chose fancybox instead of the excellent jquery lightbox implementation - http://leandrovieira.com/projects/jquery/lightbox/

    forgot to mention it's IE8 in XP.

    Works fine in FF3 on XP & IE7 on Vista.

    ClassiPress hasn't been certified in IE8 yet. It's still quite new and a very small % of people are using it at this time.

    Fancybox is smooth and different than lightbox (which every site seems to use). I like them both but decided to go with Fancybox.

    Last time I had issues implementing lightbox (& clones of) it was the rel attribute. Once I'd changed the call to a class="xxx" instead it played nicely.

    Will this be fixed in 2.9.2? To say its unsupported because it's the newest version doesn't really sound good. Almost as bad as saying we'll write it for IE6 just because some people are still using it.

    I've seen some sites using fancybox working in IE8 so it is compatable e.g http://prothemedesign.com/themes/mimbo-pro/

    I didn't say it's not supported....I just said we haven't certified it on IE8. It was just released in March so it's still very new.

    Re: IE8, 2.9demo, fancybox

    There seems to be 2 fancybox jquery versions: 1 works with ie8 one doesn't and gives the debug error. You're probably using the non-working version.

    http://www.jdmweb.com/tools.php?toolid=6 -> working

    http://fancy.klade.lv/ -> not working

    Should be just a case of implementing the correct one. Looks like the same core but different implementation.

    Re: IE8, 2.9demo, fancybox

    This hasn't been resolved in 2.9.2.

    A roadmap to when this will be resolved would be appreciated. Until then i would recommend that the theme < head > contains the ie7 emulate header:

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7">

    This will force ie8 to emulate ie7 quirks mode and act as if the browser is ie7.
