Ability to limit number of listings sold in a category?
I'm setting up a section of my directory where I would like to limit how many listings are available to be sold.
Breakdown is like this:
Category 1
-Several sub-categories with no limit to number of listings available to be sold.
Category 2
-Several sub-categories
--Sub-category
---Sub-sub-category
----Maximum twenty listings in this sub-sub-category available. After twenty listings, sales of listings in this category close automatically.
Is there any way to make this automatic so that once a sub-category is filled with a pre-determined number of listings, it cannot sell any more? Perhaps even offering a link to another page where I could place an email contact form or wait-list form?
I'd rather not have to monitor the number of listings in each sub-category manually, or worse yet, manually add them to make sure they stay within the number of listings I'd like in that sub-category. I also don't want to accept orders and have to refund after the fact if the category is full.
To head off any questions about this: I'm doing this because some of these sub-categories for this niche will be very popular and if I let an unlimited number of people signup, the directory would be bloated and it wouldn't be a valuable listing for the business. I'm also concerned about user-experience and making sure it's a neatly organized and tightly-focused directory.
