Directory as home page vs. static page?
My site was converted from a non-directory site, so my home page has always been a static page:
http://bellydanceoz.com
It's an established site with steady traffic.
A few weeks ago, I made some changes and accidentally set my home page as the main directory listing. Result? My traffic crashed dramatically - to less than half what it was.
This raises concerns for me about the
SEO of Vantage, or maybe the
SEO of directory-style layouts in general. I have my excerpts set to much longer than the standard for Vantage, so if my site was affected, I wonder how much effect it's having on other sites?
For those struggling to get traffic, it might be worth experimenting with a static home page?
