    Directory Vantage Child Theme - Header widet

    Header widget, it says:
    "Header: An optional widget area for your site header".
    What is its function?
    It does not seem to display anything, I have tried to put a text widget, menu, calender in it but nothing is displaying.
    Is the Header Widget working?
    How can I make it work?
