Events list - Show featured image thumbnail instead of calendar thumbnail

Hello all,

Getting used to the events and so far a very promising and well integrated feature!

I'd be interested in replacing the calendar thumbnail that is generated automatically and shows up when browsing events categories by the featured image's thumbnail, just like for listings. I've tried messing up with the css but so far no result... could anyone be so kind as to share a solution/hint as to what could be done to achieve this result?
