How to change page template code to make a template without...

How can I change my page template code to make a template without a sidebar? I would love to try having only my regular pages show up with no sidebar but naturally I need the sidebar to work on all other templates (listing, categories, search etc..).

Can this be done?

I deleted some code in page-template.php and sidebar-page.php but now I just have an empty space where the sidebar was. I think that the style sheet needs some editing but I can not find it.

Any help would be nice, I tried for about 6 hours before posting. Thanks
