Login & Register in same page - tab index

Hi There.

I have added the form-login.php page to my child theme and added the registration form to the page so they both appear on a single screen instead of a new user having to click to another page to register.
I am having some trouble with the tab indexing now when filling out the registration form and am wondering/hoping there is a way to 'hotfix' this so that I don't have to edit the core files every time I update. I could copy the registration template into my child theme as well but would ideally like to minimize the number of files I'm copying & thus maintaining manually.

Also my password indicator isn't working correctly anymore Did I break a path when I copied it? I don't seem to see anything in the template that would indicate that I did.

I know these are customizations so even just a point in the right direction would be very helpful I don't necessarily need a complete answer.
