Newsletter sign up incentives

Hello Vantagers,
My site is a directory for the boating community - providers of goods and services together with information for the owners of boats.
I'd like to encourage visitors to join the newsletter so we can reach them with discounts and new products.
Some of the suppliers will join this, and I'm looking for ways to deliver the concept.

Do we make the normal prices available on the site and offer a discount to subscribers? Do we send a coupon to cell/mobile phones of subscribers?

Have any Vantage sites had this issue? Any ideas here would be appreciated.
