Questions with Vantage? Remove "Search for"

I recently purchased the Vantage theme with the User Locator app. After playing around with some data i noticed a few things and need to make a few changes. Any help would be sincerely apprecaited.

1. Currently there are 2 search options in the MultipleListing/EventMap. I would like to remove the "Search for" section and just keep the "Near" section. Since our site will be listing only physical and virtual studios, there is no need for a "type".

2. Category display...Currently we have one drop down category type that has 3 categories within it. I would like to remove this drop down and just have the Categories themselves be listed within the home page header.
