I'm opening a separate thread for a subject that is much discussed about Vantage. Please use this thread for continued discussion on the topic.

Recurring payments for Vantage is scheduled for the end of the year. Right now, our Vantage developer is working on a new theme. We expect to release version 1 of that theme in October. Once we release that, Josh's immediate top priority will be the implementation of recurring pricing in Vantage.

Much of the work for recurring payments is in place thanks to Josh and Tyler Carter, our Payments API developer. That means Vantage 1.3 with recurring payments should require very little work to finish once Josh has been freed from his current project. However, since there will be significant code changes, we will still do complete rounds of internal testing and release a beta version before the full release becomes available. We will also need to give Marketplace developers a chance to update their products, as is the case with all major releases.

At this time, my best estimate for the release of Vantage 1.3 is December 2013. Please note, this is not a guaranteed delivery date it's just a very rough estimate. As we progress with the other themes and move on to Vantage 1.3, we'll revise our expectations and communicate them here.

Some questions I'm sure many of you have...

Don't you understand how important recurring payments is?
Yes! Absolutely! Without a doubt! We've heard the feedback and seen the ideas exchange. We know this is highly desired and do not take the customer demand lightly.

Why are you waiting until you create a new theme?
That's just the way it was planned. We outlined a roadmap for Vantage to 1.2. Once 1.2 was finished, we planned to move on to the development of new product.

Why wasn't recurring payments included in Vantage 1.2 or before?
After listening to customers, we included the items we felt were essential to a directory theme. Some of you disagree and believe that recurring is more important than some other features. We understand and are sympathetic to this.

But I don't care about new themes, I want recurring in Vantage!
Yep, we hear you here, too. But AppThemes needs new themes. New themes help us sustain our business. They allow us to introduce new features to all our products. Vantage was a new product once and it allowed us to create a framework for all our themes and the AppThemes Payments API. Our new themes will allow us to provide our customers with even more good stuff.

I can't wait until December. What can I do before then?
I don't currently know of anyone that has implemented a custom solution but you can try contacting one of our partners ( www.appthemes.com/partners ). I believe there are some threads where others have discussed this. Keep in mind that customizations are not supported.
