Child category is shown instead of Parent one

I'm using vantage search auto suggest and I'd like to know how I can set parent categories to be shown for the listings? All my business listings are associated to more than one category and the plugin shows the first category based in alphabetical order.

Ex.: A dentist associated to categories (DENTIST and Clinical Analysis). The plugin should show "DENTIST", but it's showing "Clinical Analysis". So, when the user is reading the result of the search he doesn't know if the Clinical Analysis is related to DENTIST or MEDICAL category.
