Help with Vantage Search Widget for Directory Child Theme

Hi,

Just bought/installed the plugin and have very high hopes! For now, in main sidebar, it is appearing with an orange box behind it (probably picking up a color from theme?) and appears as fixed width inside the sidebar. Screenshot.

Would like to know how to style it so it either picks up from child theme (Directory) or is just simple.

Also, would like to remove the "Near" option since the directory is for a single city, so everything is "near" everything else...

On Listing Sidebar, the widget title appears but no search ability below. Screenshot.

I tried the the CSS you provided in this post for the "Coloured" child theme, but it only succeeded in making the font different and gray. I'm assuming that since Directory child theme is among Vantage most popular, there will be some ability to make it work.

Would appreciate any direction or suggestions.
