    Unhappy General question on Wordpress themes?

    In the footer of a lot of themes, you will find the credits of the creator.

    Nothing wrong with that.

    However, my question is why do some of these creators of these themes put links in the footer that go to affiliate programs?

    And when yo go to edit the code, it looks like something out of the matrix. So there is ultimately no way to edit these templates that lead to all kinds of affiliate programs from **** to prescription drugs.

    Yeah it's definitely annoying when they have about 5-6 random, dodgy links alright! They're obviously doing it for the money, but it wrecks the look of some otherwise great looking themes.

    Generally you'll find affiliate links in either free themes or premiums that have been resold (illegal).
    The matrix code is simply a mixture of, usually, footer code that's been encoded.
    It's fairly easy to decode.
