Is Hostgator's Quick Install as secure as a manual install?

Hi there,

I'm going to build a classified ads site using Classipress theme but want to create a solid, reliable and secure site. I'm using Hostgator and I've just installed Wordpress using their QuickInstall function but I'm worried that it won't be secure enough etc for my classifieds site...

Should I re install Wordpress manually as explained in the APPTHEMES Install Guide or will the Quick Install be secure enough?

Any advice would be much appreciated, I've tried searching for advice online but not found an answer yet.

Hi Sarah,

Using a 'quick install' for WordPress is fine.
The manual install does the same thing, just takes longer, and is a bit more complicated for new users.
Things like passwords to the SQL database will be super secure using the quick install.
Make sure you use a random password generated password for your admin login to the site as well.

If you're worried about security make sure you use a good WordPress security plugin like WordFence.
