    Web Hosting

I use Fatcow.com and notice that they don't seem to upgrade Wordpress. I asked their support about this and they said i could upgrade the version manually. I was thinking of using Bluehost for classipress but wondered if I would find the same situation there. Does anyone use Bluehost?

Personally I'd never want automatic updating. Let others deal with the problems associated with buggy new versions when they first come out. And what do you do about plugins you're using that don't work with the newest version. Always better to wait to update in my opinion.

Sorry, I think you misinterpreted me. The option is always there to update to the latest version if you so wish

    Re: Web Hosting

    I appreciate the advise. Thanks.

So Fatcow is good yeah? No need to get onto Bluehost?

While I'm at it, which register do you guys use for your domains?
I have registered a few i wish to develop for classipress using 1&1 but now i'm beginning to hear so many complaints about them.

I'm just trying to get set up with the least worries as I am fairly new to this game. I'm trying to avoid having to worry about administering domain or hosting issues later.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Web Hosting

all big companies will get their fair share of complaints.

    Webhosting:
    Excellent: Pair, WiredTree, RackSpace, ServInt
    Average: FatCow, HostGator, BlueHost, etc.

    Registrar:
I used eNom but namecheap is good. The biggest is GoDaddy but I don't really like them too much

    Re: Web Hosting

There is so many hosting companies out there, problem is 50% of them offer the same product just under a different banner. And the other 50% have the same product, so its like choosing applesauce or apple pie.

I now have my own server which is smaller than a CPU tower, and knowing what I know now, I wish I had went to my own server years ago as it would have saved me some money on hosting fees I paid over the years.
Always treat everyone with respect and courtesy, but trust no one.

    Re: Web Hosting

I use bluehost right now, but not too happy. MediaTemple is expensive but it might be worth it. A lot of popular blogs and sites use MediaTemple, which I guess says something.

Also, Name.com and GoDaddy are my favorite registrars.
