AdBlock Plus Firefox Plugin is blocking the pause button on dashboard

I just noticed that the Adblock Plus Firefox plugin is blocking the pause button image from showing on the dashboard page.

This is an extremely popular plugin, currently showing 90,650,780 downloads.

Any way to prevent this?

This plugin section has the description: "Extend your ClassiPress theme with plugins. Share your WordPress plugins in this forum."

Our issue above does not have to do with extending CP with wordpress plugins.

Rather, it has to do with people using our CP sites not being able to edit their ads if they have the Firefox AbBlock Plus plugin installed in their Firefox browser.

I think this is more of a troubleshooting issue than an exchange of useful plugins for extending CP.

Well I just noticed the title has "[PLUGIN TROUBLESHOOTING]" appended which is beneficial. Still I wonder if this issue will get the attention it deserves if it is here in the plugin forum.

Plugins for extension purposes are kinda a superfluous/bonus thing, While this issue with AdBlockPlus could affect a lot of CP sites.

I use that plugin as well but have no idea why it thinks it's an ad. It would be a question for the plugin developer as to what their criteria is for blocking ads/images. You can add exceptions to AdBlocker on certain pages which would remedy the issue for you at least.

Another question is, what percentage of your visitors actually use Firefox? Of that percentage, how many do you think actually use this plugin? Those are stats you can get from Google Analytics. I would imagine not very many which brings us back to is this really much of an issue?

Hi David, thanks very much for responding, as I'm now sparked to look a little more into the matter.

I notice that the pause button is called: ad-pause.png

While the edit ad button is called: pencil.png

Maybe the word "ad" within the name of the image is why it is being blocked.

The pencil image is not blocked maybe because it doesn't contain the word "ad" in it.

I'm guessing it would not be difficult to change the name of that image, and tweak classipress accordingly, and maybe that will be the solution.

I agree this might not be super high-priority for either you or me at this moment. I can experiment, but would rather focus on launching my new site at this moment.

I guess it would be a matter of editing the image file name... and also edting the tpl-dashboard.php so that the correct new image name is referred to. Can you confirm that this is all I'd need to do for me to change the image name and perform the experiment?

David, I also think you may be underestimating the pure awesomness and power of the software products you are creating!

The little classifieds site I am running now, with over a thousand members, is really just a prototype for the bigger sites I intend to build.

I think classipress, and probably also job roller when I start playing with it, can be used to create websites that will rival the visitorship and quantity of postings as sites like craigslist, career builder and others. So I thank you muchly for making this software available and for continuing with development

David , it worked!

Change the image name and edit the dashboard template file and all is well!

Here is what I did to solve this:

I changed the following image names found at: themes/classipress/images

Changed ad-pause.png to ahappy-pause.png

Changed ad-start-blue.png to ahappy-start-bue.png

(there is also another image containing the word "ad" in it... the image is called ad-start.png but I'm guessing it is not being used in the aqua style of CP I'm using?)

Then open up tpl-dashboard.php and make the same changes to those image names found within the file.

That's probably exactly why it's being blocked. I bet as soon as you rename it, it won't be blocked anymore.

I've logged a ticket to have it fixed in our next release. Low priority but an easy fix so it's not a problem.

I believe that's the only place the image is being called. It might also be on the edit custom fields page so a global search and replace might be in order.
