Must have Plugin to stop spammers from the start

I have been using: Stop Spammer Registrations Plugin for some time now I started getting lots of annoying people registering on my site to just spam people or post bogus ads. I found this plugin and I have not had any problems since. I also use: User Spam Remover you can set it do delete users who register but never post anything you can set how long you will alow them to be registered and never post and then it will delete their account automatically after the set amount of days you choose. hope this helps some of you also having these issues.

For automated bots you may use also Bad Behavior as a first line of defense against auto spam WordPress › Bad Behavior « WordPress Plugins .

Is it possible for bots to enter the website, even if "reCaptcha" is active? Or does the mentioned plugins for fighting comment-spam?

I only use Akismet and reCaptcha and so far had no problems with Spammer. But I have seen reports of users who have had problems.

For automated bots you may use also Bad Behavior as a second line of defense against auto spam
    it's a serious one
the big + updated daily craps server and bad IP with checking project honeypot

Warning you need to whitelist paypal IPN cause paypal send some request with no user agent
and Bad Behavior don't love this type of requests

Bad Behavior Bad Behavior / Bad Behaviour:

wordpress plugin WordPress › Bad Behavior « WordPress Plugins

in the quote you found "second line" because for me there is a existing first a defense integrated in wordpress that check all request before site loading
    before mysql ,ajax, and Etc...
    And I use It
    Best

Hi mr green, I was wondering if you could help. I installed bad behavior and it did indeed block paypal IPN. The plugin gave the following info:

A User-Agent is required but none was provided.

..and loads of other tech stuff

how do I whitelist paypal? there is no option within the actual plugin? in addition, from what i understand, paypal IPs always change....

Hope I am not hijacking this thread, but i feel it is related.

Can anyone recommend an anti-spam e-mail plugin that will work in the custom fields area?

The popular wp plugins work on the general content but do not encode email address in the custom field area.

    Thx!

Yeah, dude, you totally just hijacked this this thread.

There's quite a few anti-spam plugins. I think everyone has a favorite. They're all pretty decent. Try using more than one if you have problems.
