user photo plugin-Error

I am getting this error when I tried to activate the user photo plugin.Please help:

"Fatal error: User Photo plugin not usable on this system because image resizing is not available, specifically the imagecopyresampled() and related functions. It has been deactivated. The required GD module is not available on your system. in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/user-photo/user-photo.php on line 40"

@ buddhan can u also tell how to configure it? I have installed and activated this plugin but still not able to make it work...... can you share the settings you used?
