What up all,

I have a friend and his investor talking to me about starting a coupon site for them, similar to groupon.com.

I saw that "clipper" will be released in September. Will the functionality be similar. I have a guy to help customize but am wondering what all it might take.

I quoted him a fairly high dollar amount and he still seemed interested. If anybody can help ASAP I'd really appreciate it.

I almost think I could customize ClassiPress and make it work but Clipper could be worth the wait maybe? Not sure what to tell them now.

Clipper will strictly be a coupon theme but we plan on releasing a Groupon clone later this year.

Ok great. So sometime by December 31? I'm looking forward to it. These guys are kind of gun-ho about this. I want to know if I can tell them something to stall so they pay me to do it and not someone else.

I don't want to go with another product that involves a bunch of tweaking from its natural purpose, like I've considered with classi press.

David's Classipress system is by far one of the most innovative pieces of work for the WP CMS. Off the top of my head, you could build off the Classi-core and structure groupon utilizing:

1. Fb-connect and email lists to keep people informed
2. Usermeta fields and most likely a new table entirely to arrange user information to relative information (ie: you are from "Boston", defaults to Boston sites.
3. A post voting system that is re-integrated as a buy now option.
4. Gateway holds ( Paypal API maybe) that will take up funds once voting condition is met (ie: 150 buys ).
5. Front-end form for businesses to automatically set up their groupon.

Nonetheless, real excited to see the app themes at their best.

Thanks for responses. I've discussed with company looking for website and told them if they are patient they will get it cheaper. I'm and SEO at heart which is another reason to like Davids work.

Obviously it would have been great if David said it would be done tomorrow. But I've told the people with money whats up and they seem willing to work with me by either paying more upfront or being patient.

I will keep this thread going with any related updates in developing the project and/or requests for the 'groupon' based website.
