Re: Location drop down by State and City

    Hey guys,
any ideas why this is not popping up on my site?
    im using 2.9.3
any ideas why its not where to be seen. is it hidden behind the header or something? tried putting the script address into the footer but no luck there either.
    did i miss something?

hi damien, i know this is an older post, and thank you very much for posting, it is great. My question is when you pick a city/state, does this show the search results page or the 'homepage' where it lists all the categories? I want it to list all categories for a city like craigslist. Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

Yes this is for the old version which uses the default blog post for the ads. It is possible by either using custom taxonomies or custom fields in conjunction with wp_redirect.

Cool, I'll check out he wp_redirect then. Thx. Once I get my head wrapped around all this, I'll actually be to contribute back instead of asking all the questions

    Codewise it is possible.

jomarkosabel - you were saying above to use custom fields to help perform a filter. I created a city custom field so on my home page can i filter using this field to filter, say, by using a query string? something like site.com?id=cityname ? Thanks.

On my older site I use this plugin WordPress › WP Custom Fields Search « WordPress Plugins .

thanks but I am using 3.05 currently and that looks like it is for older versions. Since David said recently that there won't be a craigslist style locations filter, I am trying to figure a way to make it work without setting up sub domains. There has to be a way to filter the homepage. David also said you will be able to search custom fields in 3.1 but that still doesn't help me
