There is a tutorial about installing patches here.You could also download and install the complete Clipper 1.2.1 version. Please backup your files and database before, in order to avoid any loss of data. If you made any modifications to the theme's code and you are not using a child theme the modifications will be lost.

I followed directions and got a warning for line 285 on admin.option I believe and I had to restore so Im looking for someone with experience

The patch, and instructions should be updated, not so clear, but I copied each file folder by folder to make sure

Is it possible a plugin is interfering,

Could you also try to install the complete version? There is always the possibility that a plugin is causing the problem, try deactivating them before the installation and after.

I modified template and have a bunch of people adding coupons daily, so cannot restart, and I will try again, just thought some experts could do it for me

If you modified the template there is a chance that the changes you made to the code are interfering with the update. I will move this thread to http://forums.appthemes.com/wordpress-theme-services/
