When you say that the dev team are also going to be possibly including a progress bar for image uploads.
Does this mean that they are going to build an Ajax uploader like the one at code canyon?
If so this is good... but what would be better... if they can consider while building this is the option to sort images once uploaded by the customer/client before submission and also the option to sort images once the ad as been placed and also the option to sort images within the back end by the admin.
The reason I'm asking this is because I have just approached a developer to build me this exact function and wouldn't want to waste my time or his time if this is the case.
Could you confirm please?

Totally agree on this point from Bleem, the reordering of the images is painful specially when the users simply want to change the first image out of 8, at this point, they have to delete ALL the images in order to get back to that first image field and then reupload them.
