WordPress Theme Development Checklist

Being a premium WordPress theme company means we need to adhere to certain guidelines in order for our themes to be in compliance with WordPress.

Fortunately, WordPress provides an in-depth checklist of everything a theme *should* have before being released to the general public.

This list is relatively new and I'd confidently say that many (if not most) theme developers fail to use this punch list. Part of which is due to the fact of them not even knowing about it's existence.

So if you're a theme developer or just interested in learning about the process, this theme development checklist is a good place to start.

I completely agree with your post that developer usually not follow this checklist while developing a website.

Agreed, I design wordpress themes for clients and since they created the checklist, I have learned loads about modifying php and it makes my life a whole lot easier when bug testing...

Huge thanks for all this info. I'm about to take a shot at writing my first theme since I can not find one that fits my needs for part of my site. This will help a lot.

same here. i can't agree more on this. not only developers don't usually meet guidelines, but more than 70% of world's population usually don't care about it. infact, they intend to do things their own way. they always do.
