    Default page and post headings to H1

    currently all headings are set to h2 and changing them to h1 means altering every php file and template.

    Not great for SEO

    There about 6 php files involved if you need to change it;

    index-directory or the index-standard.php (depending upon the style you are using)
    archive-default.php
    archive-blog.php
    single-default.php
    single-blog.php

    If you are not using child themes then I believe you would have to change the codes again when theme update comes.

    Just take note of the changes then unless your request for this feature is considered by the developing team.

    I don't think that it would be a good idea to change h2 -> h1
    An h1 tag should appear only once in a site that is why it is usually used for the site name or logo.
    An archive or category page would list a number of h1 titles which would result in incorrect html structure.

    There is some evidence that h1 weighs less than h2 tags

    Keyword Use in H1 Tag
    Not as important as it once was as a ranking factor, but still necessary on a well optimized page and very useful for organizing page content.

    Keyword Use in H2, H3, H(x) Tags
    2nd most important on-page criteria (weight changes every now and then and it can happen that h2/h3 have the same/higher importance than h1)

    @bluecafe, nicely explained.

    @alinimmo, if you want bulk editing use Dreamweaver to automatically find and change code. I also suggest using Winmerge or KDiff3 for file comparison.

    I can't live without these tools. Previously it took a month what I make now in one week!
