Notified of New Listing

I would love to see visitors be able to sign up to be notified of a new listing, either in a category or all listings. Such as, If i come to a site and there are no listing for automobiles that I like, I might want to be notified when there are new listings. I can give my email or have a text message sent to my phone.

Customers can already subscribe to the RSS feed to get this kind of info.. this gives all new listings though, not category specific. Is this what you mean?

Well, I understand what an rss feed is, but many people do not, or do not know all the ways to use them. Many people would like to sign up to get an email or sms message when a new post is made...
