Comments on Ads- correct setting

I have disabled comment on my sites but would like some ads to be able to receive comments.

I have thus far been going to each ad that I want to enable comment and through quick edit enabled comment. I tested that with a "test account" but the author of the ad is not receiving a notification that a comment has been placed on his ad.

I am thus wondering what are the correct setting that I need to use wordpress so that users that allow comments on their ads are notify by email whenever someone post one?
