Excluding a category from menu dropdown

Hi All i have been searching how to do this and have found many old posts for previous releases of classipress and also for the vantage theme but as yet i have not managed to find an answer for the current classipress theme.

Please could someone point me in the right direction.

I guess i will need an &exclude= (for the relavent category ID's) to be placed in the code for the dropdown but i am not sure where this section of code is located (both in terms of the correct .php file and then the code line)

Any Hints would be greatly appreciated,
