Failed Attempt to Change Background AFTER Reading Existing Threads

Hi ~
I am brand new to using CP and am not very familiar with css or html.

I have read thru the posts regarding changing the background so I can make my personalize my site. However, I have not been able to locate the correct area to insert the image coding.

Here is what I have done:

I went to "appearance" and clicked on "editor".
The Stylesheet (style css) appears.

I attempted to add the image code generated from Photobucket to the following:

/* main */
body, html { margin:0; padding:0; background-color:#F8F8F8; }
p { margin:0; padding:0 0 8px 0;}

Nothing changes.....not even the color when I change the numbers here.

Do you have any ideas to help me along the way?
