Highlight Parent Categories in Top Search Bar's Drop Down Menu

Hi, i just wanted to know which css code to customize to highlight the parent categories in the drop down menu of the home page search bar. I tried looking for help but the solution i found only changed the "post an ad" drop down menu.

Basically i want my search bar's drop down menu to be like www.postpanda.com

I want my parent categories highlighted and all subcategories left with a white background.
