how to configure classipress website before loading on ftp

hope yer all well,

im ed, 25, living in germany, but from Ireland originally.

I am looking to upload my website onto my host site,

Before we go any further, I am completely new to wordpress, i have never used wordpress or classipress before, so my first few question are:

1. in order to setup.customize my website (which will just contain classipress elements, no wodpress elements, i.e. just like in the classipress demo on the classipress website), what file do i open?
(I have tried index.php, on classipress, but it just brings me to some classipress site on the net)

2. Can classipress work independatly of classipress, i.e.do i need to download 'wordpress' first, to get classipress to work?

3.i wish to just configure my classipress website first, before loading it onto my ftp, what file must i open in order to view the 'to be' homepage of my website?
