Permalink structure question

I tried to change my permalink within wordpress from %postname% to %post_id%-%category% and saved, message returned Permalink structure updated but somehow the slug (URL) stays on using %postname% value, am I missing something? Is classipress url defaulted this and cannot be changed?

For example:

mydomain.com/ads/this-is-the-title

I am hoping for

mydomain.com/ads/838-auto-car

I tried clearing cache, no other plugins, etc.
Please advise.
