    Plugin Protection

Is there a way to encrypt (for what of a better word) plugins that i maybe using on my site.?. I am waiting on a plugin that is being developed but may need extra work done by others that would lead me to have to give them ftp access. I don't want if i can help it to disable this plugin, but also at the same time protect it from the possibility that it could be copied by any outside party doing work on my site.
