Refine Search Function on Home page

Hi there,

Is it possible to have the refine search options (included with the latest version of Classipress on the home page). At the moment, the refine search option only becomes available when a user selects a category. It would make so much sense if a user could come to the website and select the category they want from a drop down menu AND apply the advanced search features such as radius etc all on the home page.

I'd be grateful for suggestions.
