Saving Customized Theme for multiple uploads
Ok fellas,
Moving further along in my CP install. To recap...
I am creating a classified site which uses the exact same theme, structure, pages, etc.
across multiple cities in a particular area. The only difference is going to be user
created ad posts, as they will be regionally specific.
So...
site.com
tampa.site.com
newyork.site.com
[Same site look, feel, function, header, pages, et al. across the entire network.]
Is there a way to customize the site ONCE and use this exact customized theme across
all sites?
As of now, the only solution I see is to activate the theme each time and go through the
customization process over and over. But if the majority of information is going to be the same, this
seems redundant.
Two main issues to address...
1. Create a new theme, basically CP, but with my custom info in place. If I name it "classipress",
there should be no issues, but may cause problems upon upgrade. If I name it "classipress1", may
cause some broken links when
WP tries to access the theme. How do I set it up so that my changes
are already there?
2. Migrate categories and pages from the original site. Categories will need to show up blank as
this is where the user content will go. Pages will be the same content on every site, but how do I get
them to show up on other sites? More importantly, how do I do it automatically?
I'm currently using WPMU, which will hopefully help streamline the process. But I imagine any
process that works on WPMU could still transfer for anyone attempting this on Wordpress.
Thanks for anyone who has a recommendation.
