Sold stamp, .gif, mark as sold, version 3.1.6 - not working

Hi, I've tried every recommendation made and changed code, checked permalinks, changed code back, etc, checked placement of sold.gif, tried alternative blue cafe suggestion for change of single_ad php code but cannot get the Mark as Sold to work. I'm using 3.1.6 and it never worked on earlier versions. Have patch files still in ftp from earlier versions.

Is there anyone out there who has either same problem or had same problem and has solved it?
