template editing

Hi id like to use some parts of the ad's homepage template on my blog template and remove the side bars of the ad's homepage tempelate and apply the side bars on my blog home page template. Ok here are two screen shots the two boxes in red in the first pic are features of the ad's homepage tempelate id like to have on my blog tempelate in place of the red box in the second pic.. Also box highlighted in green in the second pic part of the side bar i would like removed.

Can anyone tell me how I go abt this.. just a nudge in the right direction will do as i think im asking for too much..
