REG user changed to ADMIN after making a change

Here's the scenario:

A registered user posted an ad.
I found out she didn't want her ph# included.
I deleted her ph# using my iPhone.

When I got home I checked the listing.
Ph# still there, so I deleted it again.
No Ph# in listing anymore.

But now the ad is associated to ADMIN account.

And I cannot select "post Author" on edit Post page.
Any ideas.

I'd hate to ask her to re-post the ad.
Because it will no longer be in her Dashboard.

The ad is still listed with proper contact info, I hope it doesn't email to admin.

Anyways, trying to figure or find if anyone has had a similar situation?

Make sure you have checked the show author widget to see all other authors available. It's near the top on the edit post page. Then you'll easily be able to change the post author back to her. This of course only works if she's a registered author on your site.

I only see that option available on the main edit posts page - but not on the individual post edit pages.
Thought it might be a FF thing so I checked in Safari - still that option isn't available.
All I have available is Screen options drop-down menu.....:

There should also be one called "Post Author". I'm using the latest version of wordpress 2.8

I've checked and double checked.
On any listing where admin is the ad poster
there is no Post Author selector available

Registered Users have Post Author available on their post pages.

Hmmm.
I'm on 2.8 also

That's strange. Since it's a wordpress question, I recommend posting in their forum or search to see if there is already an explanation.

So it was my fault after all, I guess.
Because I forgot to do this:

The “New User Default Role” under “Settings” => “General” should be set to “Contributor”. The “Membership” option box should also be checked to activate this feature.

Now - Where is the "membership" option box located.....hmmm

That would be where you allow 'Anyone can register'!
