Add another Category in Header

I have the main category for users to list items for sale like all ClassiPress sites but need another category in the header called Events.

I set up a custom link in menu's and it shows in the header no problem...but it links me back to the main category. And if I go to ad a category I only have the main category pages to choose from, Events is basically non existent except as a link in the header...

I see lots of sites with more than one category in header for different products or services so this is just me missing something. Can someone let me know where I went wrong here and how to solve it. Thank you.
