Can you stop the display of child and grandchild categories on the homepage please

Please can some one help me I am new to classipress but mostly seems pretty easy for a non coder! The only issue I am having is the display of child and grandchild catogories in the category drop down and on the main ad window on the homepage.

I have listed all the UK counties under each category and it displays the top cat then the first child cat then several grandchild cats, which doesnt work for me, I just want it to display child can I do this or do I need to re think my structure?

my site is getsetpet.co.uk its a right mess at tho mo! so need to get this sorted

Any advice for a newbie would be very welcome
