Changing Permalink Structure for "Ads" and "Ad-Category"

Is there an easy way to strip out "Ads" and "Ad Category" from the "Ad Listing Base URL" and "Ad Category Base URL". I've tried deleting them and then re-saving the permalink structure, but it doesn't seem to allow nothing. It lets me change it, but not delete it completely.

I simply want my real estate category to be domain.com/real-estate and not domain.com/ad-category/real-estate. I'd also like to have individual ad listings that do not have "ads" in the url. If it is an ad for an "iphone" I would like it to change it from domain/ads/iphone to domain.com/iphone
