Classipress Child Theme Question

When I uploaded my theme to WP, I didn't take the time to upload as a child theme. At the moment I really didn't know how actually... But now that I do know how I was wondering, what would happen if I did? Would I loose everything that's already saved to the site?

I want to upload as a child theme now but am scared to do so. I also made a few customizations to the theme, without uploading as child theme. I know, I shouldn't have done so. But to be honest those customizations were minor, so It wouldn't be too hard making them customizations again. A little advice or share of knowledge would greatly appreciated!
