Classipress .mo file doesn't seem to be loading

I've created a "classipress-en_US.mo" file to change some strings in the theme (e.g., change "ads" to "listings"). I put the updated "classipress-en_US.mo" file in the directory "wp-content/languages/themes/" and I updated the wp-config file to add "define('WPLANG', 'en_US');"

But, the strings aren't updating. It seems like the Classipress theme isn't finding the new .mo file. I've read through several discussions on this forum and followed the advice given (as above). But, it's not working.
