How to remove the state and country in the refine search results

Hello whenever I do a search it shows the states and country in the results in the refine results. This is for a local city site, I do not need the state & country to be included or showing on the completed refine results side bar. I created a new custom fields and remove the state and country and added them to the newly created forms. But when I do a search, the refine results still shows the states and country drop down options. How do I remove it so when people do a local search they will not see states and countries listed on the define results side bar? Thanks.
