Refine search results not working as it should

Seeing this is actually a common one, I just wanted to add the results from my end given the extensive use of custom fields:

I got many custom fields per ad, one of them is City and its a Text box, 90% of the ads are actually the same city name and all spelled exactly the same way, yet, when trying out the Refine results within a search result, if I type in the city name, I get no results found, which is very alarming considering the site is based on a local city mainly.

I read this thread, which is already the case in CP 3.2, those fields were already active, yet the results are not coming up as they should.

Any feedback or suggestions to help narrow this?
