Scale down portrait images

Hello guys,

I have a problem on my site with portrait format images in the gallery.
Unfortunately the images do not scale down so the gallery is way too huge, see here: https://nobelboerse.de/angebote/role...-bicolor-blau/
How can I scale down these images automatically (maybe using CSS) so that it looks good?

Furthermore: Is there a way to set a random image as banner image and thumbnail image if the user does not choose it?
