Coupon code button opens a blank tab in google Chrome

I'm setting up a new site using clipper (ignore any visual ugliness -- I'm working on that while we try to resolve this issue) and the core functionality of Clipper is not working.
When I click on the coupon code button for a coupon it simply opens a new, blank tab instead of going to the destination url

You can reproduce the issue here (no login required) with a fake coupon we set up:
(I can't put the real url because of some kind of forum filter ... so just add http:// at the start and slashes instead of spaces)
myvegasfriends.com coupon 10-off-amazon-2

The destination url for that coupon is set to an amazon url (that I can't put here because of posting rules?)

I've tested this in the latest version of chrome, where it doesn't work. It works in the latest firefox.

I'm aware of the other thread "Clicking on Coupon Opens Blank Page in Chrome" but nobody has responded in years. This is clearly a critical bug that makes the theme nearly useless. Please respond.
I've also tried saving permalinks many times.

Also, I'm running Clipper 1.5 according to my dashboard.
