    How does your messaging work

Please correct me if I am wrong re your messaging system between employer and freelancer. From my understanding, freelancer sends a message to employer in the clarification board so that the employer can consider him. But in my system, the employer cannot reply without hiring the freelancer. The employer has to select the proposal in order to reply to the freelancer. This means the employer has no chance to ask questions before hiring. Is this correct? If so, does it make sense? Again, please correct me if I am wrong and kindly explain how employers and freelancers can have a back and forth exchange prior to hiring, like on Elance, Upwork, etc.
