Showing subcategories in the sidebar ?

How can I show the subcategories in the sidebar (sidebar-nav.php)?

Categories show, but not the subcategories

i also added the widget in the sidebar which shows categories + subcategories fine

but i would like to show the subcategories in the sidebar (sidebar-nav.php)

i saw other jobroller sites where it works fine

i tried deleting subcategories and recreate it but no change
