    adding text to page set up with category template

    I would like my home page to show the category list and I want to include some text as well.

    I created a page using the category template but when I put the text in it doesn't show up anywhere on the page. I tried adding an image using the add media button and the featured image section but that doesn't show up either.

    Is there a way to have a category list on the page and have text and pictures too?
