Bulk Upload Timeout

When uploading my listings csv file to the Vantage Theme, the process times out after a few minutes. This results in less than 30% of total listings being uploaded.
When I retry, the timeout period is roughly similar and I end up with irregularly duplicated listings. I've also tried the upload from two different machines, one laptop and one desktop, the former an Apple and the latter a Windows machine; same problem occurs on both. Do you have any idea why this might be happening?
Some additional information: The main issue seems to be the timeout, but I can't find a way to stop this from occurring. A secondary problem is that the upload seems to take quite a bit longer than it should given the file size.
